Book, Music, and Lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey
Auditions will be held at The Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts. 220 East Thomas Street, Hammond.
There will be two components to our Grease auditions: a vocal/acting audition and a dance call. If auditioning, you should plan to be here for approximately one hour.
For the vocal audition:
Everyone auditioning must prepare 15-20 bars of a song to showcase their voice in the style of the character(s) they are auditioning for. Plan to show us your ability to act through song. Choosing a song from Grease is allowed, but here’s a quick reference to other musical theatre songs that are good audition pieces for the various Grease characters:
All auditionees will be singing with piano accompaniment provided by our music director, Nathan Sumrall. Please arrive with your sheet music in a binder and your selected bars highlighted for the accompanist. You will be able to briefly discuss tempo with Nathan before you sing for us.
For the dance call:
Please come familiar with the song “Hand Jive” if possible. Be ready for a fast-paced dance audition, and dress to move.
