The 25thannual Bill Evans Jazz Festival features an entire week of outstanding live jazz performances! From intimate combos on Southeastern's campus to big band shows in the beautiful Hainkel Auditorium, the Bill Evans Jazz Festival has something for everyone. Don’t miss this world-class celebration of America’s original art form. Concerts will feature current Southeastern students, alumni, faculty, and this year's special guest artist, Michael Wolff.
Wednesday- Alumni Jazz, Friday- Faculty Concert w/Guest Michael Wolff are ticketed events.
Saturday- University Jazz Ensemble w/Guest Michael Wolff is FREE admission.
Pianist and composer Michael Wolff made his recording debut with Cal Tjader in the mid 1970s, and went on to play and record with Airto and Flora Purim, Cannonball Adderly, Sonny Rollins, The Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra, and Nancy Wilson. For five years in the 1990s, he served as band leader and musical director of the Arsenio Hall Show. Wolff has performed with and conducted over 25 symphony orchestras worldwide. He has released 21 recordings to critical and popular acclaim. Michael has composed the scores to several film and television projects. His memoir, On That Note: A Memoir of Jazz, Tics, and Survival, is now a best seller on Amazon.com.
